On October 15, Edmontonians will elect a new City Council that will lead our City for the next three years. At a time of record economic and population growth, the decisions made by the next Council will be critical toward building the type of City we all want. A City that offers a high quality of life through secure and stable neighbourhoods – an efficient public transportation and roadway system – competitive property and business taxes – and a vibrant downtown and Arts District with residential housing. Over the past six years, I have been extremely honoured to represent you and the residents of Ward 4. I’m asking for your continued support to serve you on City Council. As your proven voice on City Council, I have taken constructive action on the issues that you and your neighbours have told me are important:

• The addition of downtown residential housing will help to meet the needs of a growing population.

• Approval of the south LRT will ensure that commuters can quickly and efficiently access the U. of A., Grant MacEwan College and the business/ government district without their cars. This means less pressure to expand roadways through Ward 4 and a positive impact on our environment.

• An increase in the capital budget will rebuild aging infrastructure and upgrade mature neighbourhoods.

• The expansion of the University of Alberta into the Hudson Bay building will ensure the preservation of a historic building and bring significant benefits to both the U. of A. and downtown.

Looking ahead, we know that Edmonton’s forecasted economic and population growth will continue to create major challenges and tremendous opportunities. Nowhere is this growth more pronounced than in Ward 4 – the focal point of Edmonton. The complex issues that it faces – neighbourhood preservation to homelessness – demand a proven voice with a strong vision. As a life-long Edmontonian, it is my vision to continue the promise of Edmonton as an inclusive city that is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. It is my hope that you will again provide me with the opportunity to represent Ward 4 as your member of City Council.

I encourage you to vote on October 15th.

Thank you.

Yours truly,
